Hi Elizabeth,

Is this the one you were going to enter?

This is a great shot also, but I still prefer the previous one. I'll dissect it like I would a painting, but all this stuff doesn't go through my head when I decide which one I like best, but perhaps forms the basis of why subconsciously.

The first one (Down the Cascades)has a definate "pathway" that leads your eye from the bottom to the top. It takes you on a journey all the way through. There are multiple "leading lines" with the boulders all reconfirming the visual pathway. The second one (Crow's Nest Gorge) takes you out the "side door", even though there is a pathway.

Their is a nice balance of "positive" spaces (the gorge walls and boulders) in the forst one. The second one seems to a little overbearing with the volume of wall leaning over.

The "freshness" of the moving water seems more effervescent in the first one. You have areas of coloured water and closer crisp white bubbles.

And finally the colour. It is just so rich in the first one. Thise touches of burnt sienna at the waterline just rounds out the clour palette. By squinting at the second one, I see mostly greys.

They are both great shots, the first instills a sense of curiosity and inspiration. The second sets my mind in a sombre, foreboding sort of mood.

Of course you may well say "What a load of TOSH! She's barking!" I wouldn't blame you.

In my defense, I've only been in the photography lark for 6 months now, and my knowledge (or lack thereof) may be dangerous, rather than helpful!

Kind regards,

Cindy

GAWD! So many speling mistakes. Time to trim the fingernails I think.

That should read:

There (their)

first (forst)

Those (Thise)

Colour (clour)

SPELLING!!

Would you believe the "speling" was deliberate?

Hi Cindy,

I appreciate you taking the time and effort and can see what you are saying.
Is a help to me as can see through your eyes. At Flickr a pro photographer takes the time with hints which is most helpful as is your input.
I tried taking photographs of the moon through the bare branches of a tree without success. Will gp and have another gander at your shots.
Kind regards,
Elizabeth
