Girraween Wandering
I have one weekend in four off as my son is on rotation from New Guinea and cares for my responsibilities here. Did a bit of walking in Girraween National Par, climbed some mountains and crossed some creeks and was so lucky as struck the flowering wild and experienced the climbs before the heat of summer, which I am sure I could not do in the heat. We have areas in SE Queensland that have got to be the best kept secrets in Australia...
Walking down the creek a few k's the wildflowers were coming into bloom
A tunnel through the granite that needs to be negotiated before the rock face when climbing to the top of Castle Rock
Castle Rock, spotlighted with the skudding clouds
A tree growing on Turtle Rock
After the rain in the district the creek is magnificent, photographed as the sun began to touch the foliage on the top of the image
The Sphinx Rock photographed from a ledge on Turtle rock
The granite arch photographed in the dark with the rock and surrounds "light painted" with a torch
The creek swirling and bubbling downstream
Me, on the top of Castle Rock
Interesting eucalyptus grow out of the rocks
Down stream with the rock formations allowing the water to run down natures channel
The trail up the first Pyramid Rock...I thought this was quite steep...:))
The wind was fierce and gusting, I crawled at stages as rounding a corner the wind would nearly blow me off my feet....the first Pyramid nearly at the top

My word you must be one fit grandma. Beautiful photography as usual. Love the one with the menacing clouds.
Beautiful photos, and you have now made me want to go to Giraween this weekend, if it stops raining.
Thanks Diane, Not as fit as I wish to be...am still carrying quite a bit of fat about my waist...:))
Thanks, Green Tea & Cupcakes,
Girraween is magic but can not climb the rocks in the rain as the granite becomes quite slippery as you probably know but can still do the creek which is wonderful....:)))
