Wonderful stories and you certainly tell them very well. Not fond of snakes myself, but the cook must have been a very strong women to have grown men scared.
Good Evening Margaret, Yes she was a strong woman and quite an attractive woman and her husband Lionel who from memory was her 7th was "the dozer driver" next door quite a deal younger than Mrs Hyde...she had been cook next door just across the river and had an argument and was snapped up by Lakefield...an extraordinary talented cook...just for the exercise she walked from Cooktown to Bathurst Bay with her partner when she was young living off the land...her story was remarkable and I only heard a fraction and what I had personally experienced with her.....kind regards, Elizabeth
