This little fellow caught my eye when walking along the creek this afternoon. He is only 10 cm in length and like a jewel flitting through the afternoon shadows diving on the water and catching the water bugs..
Diane, Yes I do have the big fellows laughing..read an article the other day and apparently the noisy minors keep away the smaller birds which have not seen many of in the near vicinity so that maybe why....as do have a large family of noisy minors.

Yes, they are jewels - bright blue sapphires flitting in and out of the trees.
Up here we have the Forest Kingfishers and of course the Big Daddys who laugh their heads off all day. What's so funny about all the humidity I ask?
They are beautiful little creatures. We see them here very occasionally.
Like lucy we have the big fellas laughing at ungodly hours in the morning.
You are certainly lucky to have such beautiful wild life where you are Lizzie....The benefits of country living...Not like here in suburbia....
Beautiful, Lizzie. I don't get many of them, but when they do visit they are special.
Cindy,
I had not seen this particular bird before...and is so lovely
