The creek

The creek, originally uploaded by cnlizziebns.

Was on my way to the falls...could not get there yesterday morning as the road was cut with the water....the noise was so loud and I love the sound of nature being in your face.....er er as long as not too much thunder and lightning.....

We are just starting on the latest adventure of the Wet Season up here, much lightning, thunder and torrential rain to come in the next few months. I love it too, but always an element of trepidation as to what the cyclone season will bring.

I have a niece in Brisbane and sister north of there so have been watching the storms carefully. So far they have been lucky.

The frogs are going crazy tonight, so storms are about. I have a new frog making an "appearance" for the first time ever. Identified only by it's croak as a marbled frog. I'm so excited, I think I'll have to devote a post to it. So shy though, haven't caught a glimpse of the owner of it's distinctive call.

Awesome! Reminds me of the Barron River back in March. All that churning red water flying past to dash itself against the rocks.

Fingers crossed for some rain up this way...

Nothing like a running stream or nature in general to calm the frathered nerves. I think I just made that word up. I love it all.

Tazar,

Looking forward to your and Cindy's wet season in the tropics....I hear creatures in the night and do not know what they are...wish I did but am discovering more every day...I love the Internet with the means of obtaining knowledge at ones fingertips....

Cindy,

On a smaller scale does remind me of the Barron gorge...the noise especially.....I took one of my walks near Bartle Frere some years ago before the acquisition of this camera and the white water was awesome...I would like to go again preferably in the wet....not sans camera....

I attend to an elderly gentleman's health requirements who was the ranger at the local National Park and am a naughty girl and hike off under his instructions to where I see more sights than on the beaten track....

Kind regards,

lizzie B.

Mandy,
Strangely enough the dams up here are alarmingly low...the recent downpour, the boffins tell us, gave the area's supply an extra 100 days. Meanwhile the Hinz Dam at the Gold Coast is overflowing once again...old Russ was always a lucky lad....

Diane,
I love the rain but do empathize with those who lost significantly with the wind and hail
