Lace goanna (monitor)

Lace lizard, originally uploaded by cnlizziebns.

On my hike the other morning his young fellow ducked up a tree. These goannas grow very large. When out mustering and come upon them suddenly they tend to head towards the horse to climb up the horse's leg......and sit on the riders head...of course the rider is not there for long as get bucked off.....

Incredible. I thought for a minute that our Gila Monsters could match him but I think they aren't as big. You have the most interesting animals there. I'm with Diane....I want to go on your walk with you.

Morning Lizzie....
So much wildlife where you are...
We have a blue tongue lizard living in one of our downpipes...When the sun comes out he lazes on our front verandah...When I first saw him he scared the crap out of me....
Now we have a mutual understanding of staying clear of one another...lol

Have a great day

my blue tongues don't hold a candle to him thank goodness, although, i'm sort of getting used to them. they pop up in the most unusual places and i'm always unprepared. like mandy, they scare me. i know, i know, they are more scared of me. at least they are not snakes. your page is outstanding, i love it.

Thank you ...I will get to all your sites..I so enjoy reading of all your exploits and the great diversity of rich lives...funny thing a lot of people assume those on the Internet do not live their lives to the max au contraire ....all of yours are a rich tapestry and I am privileged to share a little of...
and do appreciate your interaction... people I would never have the good fortune to have met...

er er I am waffling on sleep deprivation....
Cheers,

Must be the QLD water, I'm not getting any zzzzzz's till the wee hours either. Then morning arrives and I'm a zombie.

Yes, they are still scare the clapper so ut of me when they show up unexpectedly. Like walking under my clothesline. I swear the word's out that our backyard has laid on a free smorgasbord.

You didn't get hurt falling I hope?

Cindy,
No did not get hurt but disappointed in myself as the dragon had his neck and spikes up and his mouth open...took on a completely different persona and I missed it...I was lying down to get on to the same level as the dragon and to get the detail was quite close.....when he came at me I attempted to get up quickly and stumbled...had I remained in place and just kept the shutter going I am told the dragon would have stopped and not bitten me......perhaps

I could never sleep much at night in Cairns before the monsoons ....I suppose all commercial these days we would light a big bonfire and go swimming at Kamerunga...and tell tall stories and laugh....or go down to the mudflats south of Cairns and skid around in the rich kids cars...the rich kids would even let me drive ....I think it was the bikinis that did it....very intelligent huh...I am really sensible now and mature...Not...beg pardon the mature bit is applicable....
