The first time in a decade that the gates of the Wivenhoe Dam have allowed out excess water. In SE Queensland we have been on water restrictions for years. The population is quite excited albeit with a little wariness and thought for those who are being flooded with this surfeit of water.

Girraween Wandering

I have one weekend in four off as my son is on rotation from New Guinea and cares for my responsibilities here.  Did a bit of walking in Girraween National Par, climbed some mountains and crossed some creeks and was so lucky as struck the flowering wild and experienced the climbs before the heat of summer, which I am sure I could not do in the heat.  We have areas in SE Queensland that have got to be the best kept secrets in Australia...
